This Saturday: Native Plant Giveaway

Dear Neighbors -
This Saturday, June 24th, 8:00-10:00AM, I’ll be giving away native plants from our friends at Indy Urban Acres. I hope you’ll start your Saturday by coming by, saying hello, and picking up a plant at the west pavilion at Ellenberger Park in Irvington. Please note, plants will be available on a first come, first-served basis, and we ask that you only take one plant per household.
In other words, if you come by at 9:55AM, we may be out of plants. (But bonus: we’ll still have time to chat.)
So, I know what you’re thinking. Native plants? I thought this was a tree giveaway.
Unfortunately, we had a bit of a hiccup with our tree delivery this year, but we didn’t want to call off the whole thing. It made sense to partner with some good friends to still provide something to our District 100 neighbors…so native plants it is.

Indy Urban Acres, an initiative of The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis, donates and distributes 100% of its produce to community partners that serve households and individuals who experience food insecurity.
Indy Urban Acres is guided by the core belief that all people deserve access to healthy food. Since 2011, Indy Urban Acres has grown from a single site harvesting 15,000 pounds of produce to four sites harvesting 60,000+ pounds of produce. All IUA produce is donated and distributed to community partners that serve households and individuals who experience food insecurity throughout the year. IUA has year-round professional farm staff who use regenerative farming practices to grow healthy food while improving the soil and local urban ecosystem.
